Milton Plants City's First Official Christmas Tree tomorrow!

Come join in the excitement as the City of Milton plants its very first official Christmas Tree at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 24.

Where: Intersection of Webb Road and Highway 9

When: 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 24

Rain Date: 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 25

The City thanks Protect Milton, Inc., for its donation of this special tree. The 22-foot, 3,700 pound Deodar Cedar was grown at Moon's Tree Farm in Loganville Ga., and discovered by Skinner's Nursery. The Rowland Company landscapers will oversee the planting of this beautiful tree to make sure it gets a strong start.

"The planting of this majestic tree creates a lasting monument to our city's love of trees and the environment, and is made possible through the generosity and caring of citizen volunteers and supporting businesses," says Mayor Joe Lockwood. "Years from now, Milton citizens will gather at this tree to celebrate our community and the beginning of the holiday season in Milton."

Known for their beautiful shape and soft blue to gray/green needles, Deodar Cedars can grow as large as 50 feet high and 30 feet wide.

A special Christmas Tree lighting party is planned for the start of the holiday season. Details will be announced soon on the city website.

"Protect Milton is proud and honored to donate Milton's Christmas tree," said Lisa Cauley, chair of Protect Milton, Inc. "We hope it offers years of enjoyment for the families in Milton for generations to come."

With a 40 percent chance of rain forecast for Saturday, a rain-out date is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. in case of hard or steady rain.

Good grief - you even get criticism for advertising an event! Is everyone in Milton always so negative??
