City of Milton Election News

Dear Milton Friends,

My name is Bernard Wolff, and I am running for the Milton City Council (District 1, At-Large) out of deep concern over the future of our community.

When we joined Milton, you and I were promised a rural atmosphere with limited government and low taxes. Unfortunately, what I have observed in Milton planning meetings and in the decisions made by my opponent to date are not in conformance with the promise we were given. Emphasis is less on the citizens' quality of life, and more on increasing city size and revenues through "inevitable" development. Quiet "dealings" murmur in the shadows.

What is being promoted are "commercial development areas" that do not take into account their impact on our "quality of life," existing businesses that serve the community, or traffic - things that WE deeply care about.

I support the rural, low density and primarily residential community we were promised with balanced growth in defined areas. I prefer development that enhances our quality of life and long term value, and does not contribute to urban sprawl. This should occur in commercial areas that have already been identified by citizens and that are in concentrated "nodes." These nodes should blend with the surrounding community, designed in conformance with neighborhood standards, and supply the services that we want. Variances and expanded density beyond predetermined boundaries should be the rare exception and not the rule.

My vision of proper development is echoed in the fundamentals of the existing land use plan for Milton. People did not vote to become a city because they wanted Milton to become overdeveloped and dense. We are a unique community model that needs to be protected and not compromised.

I grew up here and love this land. I do not want to see its beauty destroyed in the same manner as other communities in which I have lived. I am sure you feel exactly the same.

Why can't we have the Milton we were promised? A wonderful, rural, low tax, non-intrusive government will result in increased land values, a quality of life that will attract a self-reliant and dynamic citizenry, and lower demand for government-based services. Remember that this is an "at-large" election. Candidates live in the district in which they run; however, all citizens in all districts elect them. There are less than 3 weeks until the election. Time is of the essence. Please vote for me, Bernard Wolff, on November 3rd to ensure that our future is what we were promised.

Thank you for your support and encouragement.

What Bernard Stands For

To ensure that Milton does not become the town we fled, but the unique town we were promised, we must take deliberate action to safeguard the promise.

On Growth and Development, I will:

Support appropriate, high quality development that promotes a variety of housing options and shopping conveniences, and adheres to our development standards without setting the stage for sprawl.
Protect our rural landscapes, open spaces, streams, and other waterways against overdevelopment and inappropriate density.
Adhere to the land uses detailed in Milton's 25-year Comprehensive Plan
Oppose extension of sewer service beyond where it is now for the long term.

On Parks and Recreation, I will:

Work to acquire additional green space and pocket parks over time and protect them in the long term.
Develop our existing parks using grants and other sources of funding.
Ensure that a balance of active and passive uses is based on residents' needs.
Leverage our rural and equestrian charm in park designs - consistent with our mission and vision - capable of satisfying all segments of our citizenry.

On Fiscal Responsibility, Taxation, and Size of Government, I will:

Be conservative with your tax dollars and oppose tax increases.
Set as my top spending priorities -- fully equipped and effective police and fire departments, repair and enhancement of Milton's infrastructure, and development of parks and recreational facilities.
Keep the size of our government limited and sustainable.

Go Bernard! Please vote for him if you want Julie to control our city!

Ironically his vision seems to match what the existing council has voted for and has been working on, except JZB and AZB are not quite so liberal.

Wow, Bernard gave very good, educated answers! He now gets my vote!

How does Karen keep the pasted smile on for so long? It was cold at the Forum, maybe it was frozen.

The Lusk, Thurman, Longoria camps cannot come up with one thing different to try and attack any other candidates other then attempting to link anyone, any individual, who runs for office to Julie Bailey. Come up with something original can you? I doubt a man that Captianed 120 Swift Boat missions successfully will be told what to do by anyone. You all are giving Julie Baily waaay too much credit and power.

Sounds like a very commendable combat record.

As for Jezebel, remember she aesthetizes her dupes with narcotic hugs before subverting them.
War hero or not, the last thing we need are more nimbies on Council. Joe can't even control the ones he's got already.

After watching the debate, I have to give Bernard credit for one important thing:

I think I know where he grew up, sort of, what kind of business he was in and where all he traveled, sort of, and that he attended his first Crabapple antiques fair.

Actually Joe is not the only one that cant control Julie, competent staff members cant and have left, her husband Bill cant, and her ex supporters cant.

Can anyone name someone that can rationalize with Julie? Come on now! Lets all think?

Did anyone notice how awesome Tina was? She was confident, eloquent, and right on target.

These times are so wrong. I posted three hours later than the time assigned to me says. How accurate is this blog?

Did anyone catch what he says about sewer, "Oppose extension of sewer service beyond where it is now for the long term."?

JZB is not going to like that because it exists in areas that are not on the old map???

Be careful Bernie.

Tim,

How about offering $100 to anyone that can name someone that can reason with Julie.

I will match it and give you $100 more.

She must have made up with AZB and borrowed his.

He did look a little "agitated" last night?

Anonymous said...

Was that why Lusk was late and kept putting on his glasses last night?

I liked Bernard Wolfe and Al Trevillian. Talked with Al for a few minutes for the first time, and eventhough I left an hour before it ended, thought he would make a better council person then Lusk. Lusk kept everyone waiting, he was over an hour late, what's up with that? I guess he didn't feel this event was that important to the people of this community, so I don't want him representing me anymore. If we aren't important enough for him to show up on time, then how important are we really when it comes to representing our wishes, not his?

Lusk and Thurman think they have it in the bag. Why else would they be so smug?

I have met Al a few times. He comes across as knowledgeable, intelligent and very articulate.

Definately a welcome addition to the Council.

I enjoyed the forum. It was a little long like some of our council meetings but very informative.
Al Trevillyan was the golden boy last night. He stole the show. I was undecided in that race until now.
You did a wonderful job Mr. Trevillyan.

Thanks to Al's Mom for all the nice comments.

Hey TA, you know the difference between Julie and an Al Quaeda terrorist?

You can reason with a terrorist.

"Hey TA, you know the difference between Julie and an Al Quaeda terrorist? You can reason with a terrorist".

Tell that to the families of the the men, woman and children that lost their lives on September 11.

What a sick blog from a sick mind!

I saw Julie Bailey's picture standing by a motorcycle on match.com. Why would she be on match.com looking for a friend. I thought she was married?
