To Deannex Or Not To Deannex - That Is The Question.

By Tim Enloe; Accessmilton.com

Every now and then, someone suggests that Milton should dissolve and either return back to it's former unincorporated state or become part of Alpharetta.

We have had property owners state that they have the right to deannex if they choose to. Some on council have said that if a property owner wants to make that move, then the city shouldn't stand in their way.

With all this in mind, what do you think? Was Milton doomed from the beginning or do you blame the current state of affairs on people voters have elected since day one?

Have your say in the comments section below.

The problem is with the people who were elected to supposedly represent us. Just like the national picture. It seems only now, are people waking up to the fact that they are all corupt, everywhere, and we need to vote them all out, locally and nationally. Unfortunately, the last election, the community was hoodwinked, and we still have the same ole same ole at City Hall. Clean house, and get people in there who will run the city better and not embarass our name, after all we have to live here. I may start saying I live in Alpharetta when asked, due to the embarassements and shenanigans of council members since day one!

I've always said I live in Alpharetta, rather than Milton.

Comments here and elswhere reveal the problem: Joe Lockwood.
All the anguish over "why did Joe change..", "what happened to the Joe I voted for in 2006....or "his" folks in 2007"??
The truth is, it has always been about him. Did nothing for formation of Milton, stepped in at eleventh hour on the strength of his impressive, superficial charm, so he could enjoy & exploit the office as Mayor.
As Milton falls farther & farther behind its municipal peers, it is more apparent that it is due to Joe's corrupt and corrupting behavior, along with sheer neglect of his sworn duties.
Much like the news of the week about the true character of the Obama administration, Lockwood is an outwardly lovable, thoroughly dirty little thug.

Too bad he has given the majority of us a bad rap.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Lockwood for Governor.

Why not President? He's only a slightly bigger F-up than what we've got now...hard part might be what party. Joe still has to refer to a 3x5 card to help him straighten out the difference between a Republican & a Democrat.

Alpharetta please

Lockwood for president.
Cauley for vice president.
Norvell for cell tower czar.

So there now.

I vote Alpharetta for sure.

It's funny cause I have read some folks saying that Milton's rural nature leads to increased property values. On the contrary - our lack of any benefits (diverse parks and recreation for one!) lowers our value. In fact - when I recently had my house appraised (in a subdivision by the way - as are the vast majority of all the houses in Milton) - the appraiser went to Alpharetta for comps saying the same house is worth more there! Let's drop the experiment, roll in with Alpharetta and create a nice slogan "Milton - an enclave within the city of Alpharetta" - and subtitled "still with some horse farms until they all sell to developers - whether it's called Milton or Alpharetta - it's gonna happen either way - so why not just punt now and get the benefits sooner rather than later".

Who's with me!?!?!?

I'm with you partner, however there's one little problem, Alpharetta does not want any part of Milton, regardless of how you define it.

Cherokee anyone?

If we can't convince Cherokee, there's always Forsyth.
