A father and his 11-year-old son were killed late Saturday night when their Mercedes sedan ran off the road and slammed into a tree, Milton police said.
The accident happened about 10:20 p.m. in the 16000 block of Birmingham Highway.
The driver and his son were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, the boy's 11-year-old friend, was rushed to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, where he was listed in serious condition.
"We don't know why yet, but the driver lost control," Milton Police Capt. Shawn McCarty told the AJC.
A passerby reported the accident. Police have no witnesses.
The driver was in his 40s, McCarty said. All three occupants were wearing seat belts.
Police have not released the victims' names.
