Many have stated that the open road neighborhoods of Milton are what make the city unique and different. We couldn't agree more.

With that in mind, we thought it would be interesting to create a show about this endangered Milton Georgia lifestyle.

As each "ORN Diaries" episode comes your way, you will get a taste of both the good and the bad when it comes to living in one of these types of neighborhoods.

It is our hope that we will open up some eyes and generate objectivity in regards to the residents of Milton ORNS and their homes.

Enjoy!

Tim,
I feel for you. I know it's 10x's worse for you being on an open road but I share your pain. I live in a small neighborhood off of Hopewell and even in a closed neighborhood we get our fair share of other peoples trash. It always amazes me how comfortable people feel tossing trash out their car window. We get kids mostly partying in the back of our neighborhood and on the way out they think it's OK to toss things out the window. They learned it was OK to do that from someone. Don't even get me started on smokers throwing butts out the window. I see it on a daily basis. They don't want to put their disgusting habit out in their own car so out the window it goes.

Thanks for your input.

I often wonder what happened to folks treating people the way they want to be treated.

There are other things that we pick up. To put it kindly, they are related to the rhealm of hygiene and protection. Pretty bad.

Even as a youth, I never littered because I felt it was hypocrital to complain if some did that to my family.

One can only hope that people will become more objective.

All the best -

5:23am - we must be neighbors :-) See my previous posts about the same....dead deer, beer cans and McDonalds bags....

I have a kind of Pay it Forward experience when it comes to how I became reformed from littering when I was a kid. My parents never said anything about littering that I can recall - but they definitely spoke by example as I cannot ever remember them littering...but when I started driving on my own I know I did occasionally toss things out the window without a thought....till one day.

I was riding with one of my best friends (who has since moved to northern Vermont and lives the life of a middle aged ski bum - living in two room cabin in the woods with no electric, gas or water - not kidding - the ultimate granola eating tree hugger!) and he saw me pitch a bag full of lunch waste out the window and he simply asked me if I realized how stupid that was. It was like getting hit with a ton of bricks. I have never littered since - and I have used that same technique with other friends or relatives if I saw them litter. Every person I engaged in this manner has since told me they have never littered again themselves and they too have passed on the practice. Pretty cool actually to think about!

I have been taking my trash out and standing beside the road. Whenever I see a car passing that looks like it may have thrown trash in my yard I throw bottles and rotten food at them. It seems to be working so far but the only drawback is that there is a lot of bottles and rotten food outside of my driveway?

With your reasoning process you definitely qualify for a position with City of Milton. Unless you're already an employee, apply immediately.
