Contest online, in City Hall, at local events

MILTON, GA., March 5, 2010 - Is it 25,896? 34,098? Maybe 18,905? What's your guess for Milton's population?

As part of the city's partnership with the 2010 United States Census, Milton has launched a "Guess Milton's population" game online, at City Hall and at community events.

The game is free and features a fabulous prize for the person who gets closest to the 2010 Census number without going over. The winner and their prize will be announced in late December when the Census number is available.

To participate, simply go online to www.cityofmiltonga.us and click on the Census 2010 link. "Guess Milton's population" is available in the menu on the left hand side of the Census home page. Online entries allow for just one guess per IP address.

You may also click here.

Citizens may also play the game at City Hall, located at 13000 Deerfield Parkway. Each public entrance has a receptacle and entry forms. Residents are asked to vote only once and include all necessary information on the entry form so City Hall staff can contact them regarding the contest.

Also keep an eye out at upcoming public events throughout spring, as there will be opportunities to play there, as well. The contest will last until May 1.

The 2010 Census is vital to the City of Milton, as it will be the first such study conducted since the city incorporated in 2006. The population numbers gathered in the Census help city planners prepare future growth strategies and play an important role in determining federal and state funding amounts. Incorporated on December 1, 2006, the City of Milton is a distinctive community that embraces small-town life and heritage while preserving and enhancing the city's rural character. The City of Milton is committed to maintaining the unique quality of life for its constituents while efficiently delivering essential services to residents and businesses in an interactive community environment.
