Programs grow to include running club, after-school sessions

MILTON, Ga., Nov. 3, 2011 - Milton's fitness camp partnership with local business CorePhysique recently celebrated its first birthday and rapid expansion from three classes a week to a slate of programs including a running group, after-school sessions and a fitness-themed essay contest with Hopewell Middle School.

"It's been quite a ride," said CorePhysique Founder Kolleen Riddick. "I'm very proud of all the campers who have been with me for one year and the many more who are coming close to that milestone."

What began with Riddick and a handful of campers last October has grown into a team of four trainers holding classes nearly every day of the week at City of Milton parks and facilities (including Bethwell Community Center for cold days) and local schools. This success was celebrated Oct. 21 with a night off from training at a camper's home, food catered by Milton's El Azteca, gifts, lots of laughing and a bit of dancing, said Riddick.

At the party Milton resident CJ Johnson, whose wife, Polly, joined the fitness camps during the first session a year ago, was caught bragging about his wife's transformation.

"The fitness camps have really changed Polly's life," he said. "She's been doing it for a year three times a week. She now recognizes the benefits of fitness, is less stressed and looks great."
