Milton police, fire “Shop with a Cop”

Officers and firefighters from the City of Milton’s Police and Fire Departments joined their Alpharetta counterparts in the 13th annual Police Athletic League (PAL) “Shop with a Cop” program at the Walmart on Windward Parkway and Ga. 9 Dec. 14.

This annual program helps families from across North Fulton -- recommended to PAL organizers by local schools, North Fulton Community Charities and volunteers -- shop for holiday gifts. Each child was given $100 (funding comes from personal and corporate donations ranging from $20 to $2,500) to spend on presents for himself and his family.

This year, 110 children from 67 families took part. They were accompanied by 67 public safety personnel from Milton and Alpharetta, 26 civilian volunteers and nine PAL board members and staff. Nearly $14,000 went to the families, and every penny raised went to the participants.

Additionally, 50 North Fulton families will receive holiday dinner baskets Saturday, Dec. 17, delivered by fire trucks from Alpharetta, Milton, Sandy Springs and Roswell.
