Milton Gump.

In what would turn out to be a colossal waste of time for all involved and in attendance, the Milton Ethics board voted 3 to 1 to delay the hearing for Tina D'Aversa until March 2nd.

The reasons are two fold.

First, three of the council have not appointed new ethics board members since some recent resignations. Therefore, only four were in attendance. However, four equals a quorum which would have been enough to move forward.

Second, a new ethics member was evidently not up to task on the information regarding the case at hand. With the above in mind, ethics Chair Clint Johnson made a motion to delay...er, I mean "continuance" until March 2nd and it passed.

This has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever witnessed since the city came to be and I have witnessed quite a few. How hard is it to send an email around to your current ethics board members prior to the meeting, make a decision, and then let City Manager Lagerbloom know to delay it on the calendar? Ever heard of email, people? How about a phone?

Sooo, we are back to square one until March 2nd. Then again, I wouldn't bet on it. We are dealing with Milton...Milton Gump.

At least Neal got to feel important, at the taxpayers expense!

All the taxpayers paid for the ridiculus Milton Calendar sent to our homes! Who thought we wanted that?

More thoughtful commentary from Milton's Karl Childers-Enloe, star of Slingblade. ( http://www.imdb.com/media/rm146839808/tt0117666 )

Funny that he is accusing, Clint, a distinguished Milton volunteer, of being "Milton Gump".

*Sigh*... I never said Clint Johnson was Milton Gump. Re-read the post. What I inferred was that the process was similar to that of stupidity. All the members had to do was make the decision via other options before everyone showing up and wasting time. Simple as that. Stop fishing for something that isn't there.

Also, on a lighter note, I would totally agree that I would be a good choice for playing Karl Childers. You actually gave me a great idea. Good job!

I'm glad to learn the ethics meeting was Tuesday. I got confused and thought it was Monday, went to City Hall to find a fire truck out front and as I peered through the windows, it looked like the were giving Neil O'Brian CPR.

Clint is a louse. I found it ironic that he was appointed to the "ethics" board.
Tim, I was disappointed that you were not refering to him. In the future should you ever need a likeness of Clint just google horses a$$.

Joe Longoria, was not there. He was supposed to be there from what was said. All four agreed to move forward as Tim said, then after they all agreed to do so, Johnson retracts and motions for continuance because of the other board members who hadn't been appointed yet, huh? they had the quorum and all agree to move forward, why the change of heart Johnson. Didn't see Longoria in the seats? Interesting. Stevens seconded the motion.

Maybe they were just trying to be fair and save the City some money from an appeal.

Speaking of Clint...a louse? I don't get that one at all, unless it is from a cat rancher in a condo, angry about being dumped and mad at men.

He's like 80 and has done nothing but help people his whole life, for God's sake.

Good for you, Tim. Good comment

He is a little shifty, almost like an older Gordon Hunter?

Shifty yes that is a good adjective for him.

"I like the way you talk.". "I like the way you talk too."

You don't save the city money by having everyone show up to move forward with a hearing then motion for continuence. That is a waste of time and money.

I'd like to see all the Milton cougars in the movie "Milton Hump"

Since when has wasting time and money, not to mention legal fees, been a problem with meetings in Milton?
