A Youtube Double Standard.

Double Click to enlarge image.

All:

With all the press that the religion of Islam has had of late, we found the following to be quite the double standard.

A youtube video link of an individual burning the quran is preempted by a screen warning viewers that the content could be offensive. Provided they have not changed it, you can view the complete link here=>
http://www.youtube.com/verify_controversy?next_url=http%3A//www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DTbJm6m32NMA

Yet, when you search youtube for an American Flag or Bible burning, no such public notice comes up.

The sooner we return to the equal treatment that The Constitution calls for, the better off our country will be.

Flight 93 Memorial.

An artist rendering of 'The Entry Portal' of the Flight 93 Memorial.

In light of 9-11, we thought the following information might be of interest to our readers. For those unaware, a 2200 acre memorial park dedicated to the heroes on Flight 93 recently broke ground.

As their website so eloquently put it, "To help Americans make a connection to the story of Flight 93 and to learn about both the people and their actions, we need a place dedicated to the memory of these great heroes. We need a place where healing and understanding of the wounds inflicted by Flight 93 can occur. We need a place where future generations can come to learn about how the actions of a few people can make a profound and lasting difference. We need a place that permanently recounts the story of Flight 93 for audiences of all ages and backgrounds in ways that go far beyond movies and textbooks."

Milton approves 2011 spending plan.

By Patrick Fox
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Milton city officials passed the 2011 budget Wednesday -- the first spending plan in which citizens can track every penny.

The city, founded four years ago, has been using a private firm to handle most municipal services until now. Under the old contract, the city paid the company a lump sum to run finance, public works and other primary functions. Now, expenses for those services are broken down to the dime.

The new budget calls for $17.4 million in spending, down about $400,000 from last year.

Officials earlier voted to keep the property tax rate steady, 4.731 mills, the same as in past years. Property taxes are expected to generate $8.6 million this fiscal year, enough to fund about half the budget. The city will get another $3.5 million from sales taxes. The balance of revenue comes from franchise fees and business and insurance taxes.

Milton's parting with the firm should save the city about $1.4 million, said City Manager Chris Lagerbloom. The company's contract called for a fee of $8.2 million this year.

The company, CH2M Hill-OMI, still provides services to Johns Creek and Sandy Springs, north Fulton's other two new cities.

Milton still hires out some of its work. Labor for public works costs the city about $540,000 annually. The city also contracts for a planning reviewer and building inspector and a part-time traffic engineer.

However, by assuming administration of public works, the city expects to save 24 percent in costs by hiring their own supervisors and bidding out projects.

The new budget also calls for hiring one new police officer for a total cost of $60,376, not including a patrol car. The police department represents about 14 percent of the budget, about $2.5 million. The force consists of 32 full-time employees, 16 of them patrol officers.

This REALLY Bothers Me...

All:

This REALLY bothers me...

http://www.cbsatlanta.com/local-video/index.html?grabnetworks_video_id=4331230

It has been bothering me since the news hit.

Here we have a young man working two jobs with his own dreams and aspirations to reach. Then along come individuals of a lesser sort and steal all that away from him.

A couple of things to throw out there in the hopes of a healthy discussion:

1. There was no reason this man had to die. In my world of basic right and wrong, my finger is pointed at those accused. What about you? Do you agree or are you going to paint these alledged murders as "victims" and blame the "system" instead?

2. We have heard from political leaders both past and present that illegals are doing jobs "Americans won't do." In the case of the deceased, he was working as a security guard and at Waffle House...

3. If you think the bubble of Milton will protect you and your loved ones from this kind of crime, think again. It is out there and waiting to strike at any given moment. I have witnessed this first hand. Request a ride along with our wonderful MPD and you will see the same.

4. We need more officers and a community of citizens who supports these heroes NOW instead of questioning their every move as they put their lives on the line for us.

In conclusion, my heart goes out to David Casto and his loved ones. While I hope he did not die in vain, something makes me think he did...

Muslim Prayers to Open Conn. City Council Meetings.

While the nation remains divided over whether a mosque should be constructed near Ground Zero in lower Manhattan, the city of Hartford, Conn., is going out of its way to show “solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters.”

Though the city doesn’t normally begin its council meetings with any sort of prayer, NBC Connecticut reports that the city council has invited local imams to deliver Islamic invocations at the beginning of council meetings during the month of September:

“One of the goals of the Council is to give a voice to the many diverse peoples of [New York] City, which is especially important given the recent anti-Islam events throughout the country.” Council President rJo Winch (sic) called it an important move for the Council. “I feel it is very important that, as a Council, we project a culture of inclusiveness in the City of Hartford. Too often it is our differences that divide us. In my opinion, it is our combination of differences that makes us strong,” Winch said.

Milton PD launches 'Lock, Take, Hide' campaign.

Milton police officer Larry Ooton shows off one of the new cards in front of the SuperTarget on Ga.9 in Milton. Shopping areas are often targets for criminals, so officers check them regularly while on patrol.

Effort a proactive approach to preventing crime.

MILTON, GA., Sept. 1, 2010 - Officers with the Milton Police Department recently began a campaign to combat the ever-present scourge of small property crime.

Their newest weapon? A business card emblazoned with the words "LOCK your doors," "TAKE your keys," and "HIDE your things." Officers carry the cards on routine patrol and place them on the windows of vehicles they notice have unlocked doors, keys in the ignition or valuables in plain sight.

An officer signs the card and leaves a badge number, and the card has contact information for the City of Milton Police Department should the citizen have any questions.

Community Outreach Officer Andrew Phillips said the little cards are extremely valuable when it comes to crime prevention.

"For us, education about what criminals are looking for is key to stopping them," he said.

Milton Police Chief Deborah Harrell said the most frustrating thing about car break-ins is they are often preventable.

"It's what we call a crime of opportunity, meaning it's prevalent because it's easy," she said. "The harder we make it on criminals, the less we'll see it in our town."

Plus, said Phillips, the card lets residents know their police department is actively seeking out situations where crime might occur.

"We spend a lot of time doing patrols our citizens know nothing about," he said. "This effort is intended to demonstrate to our citizens that we are looking out for their interest in ways beyond responding to 911 calls and enhancing traffic safety through enforcement."

What's Wrong With This Picture? / Pt. 1

An Editorial By Tim Enloe; Accessmilton.com

Every kid enjoys time off from school. To experience days that last forever is a precious gift of youth.

I was lucky enough to enjoy that place in my life. The intense desire for Summer to begin was always present and what child didn't look forward to Christmas break? Er..., I mean "Winter Break." At least, that's what the Fulton
County Board of Education has been calling it over the last ten years or
so.=>

Under this ideology , a concoction of public school with a side of Christianity evolved to a beverage not to be chosen. "No 'Christmas Tree' here but we'd love to show you our 'Holiday Tree'!" the powers that be exclaimed. Eventually, the issue of religion within public schools became so toxic that all references were scraped; adopting a zero tolerance policy. Forget the soup; NO TREE FOR YOU!

Recently, a Birmingham Falls Elementary periodical came across my desk. Dated August 26, 2010, this issue of the "Inside Scoop" Bi-weekly newsletter covered everything from birthday announcements to sneakers being the
recommended daily foot wear to a special coming up section titled "Looking Forward."

So what is going on at Milton's newest elementary school this September? Well, let's see... a volunteer training class is coming up on the 1st...there's a PTA meeting on the 7th..oh, and don't forget that the first day of Rosh Hashana is on the 9th and the first day of Eid al-Fitr is the following Friday, September 10th...Whoa! Put the Accessmilton horse in stop position! 'Rosh Hashana?' 'Eid al-Fitr?' Must be synonyms for new math. - STOP! Google Time!

'Rosh Hashana' - is a Jewish holiday commonly referred to as the "Jewish New Year."
Source=> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosh_Hashanah

'Eid al-Fitr' - is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

***BREAKING NEWS NOTE: This newsletter NOW includes a reference to 9-11; yet prior to the firestorm of inquiries and AFTER it was sent out to parents and released; this newsletter read exactly as you see in the picture above with no reference of Patriot Day or 9-11!!!! Could this be due to our contacting the nationally syndicated Herman Cain Show earlier today????***

What's Wrong With This Picture? / Pt. 2

Christmas has been a four letter word in our public school system over the past decade due to it's religious connection, yet here we have not one but two references of religious celebration in a public elementary school's newsletter?

The more I look around, America seems to be evolving from the land of the free to the land of the double standard. This country was founded on equal treatment under the law - period. Yet,more and more are choosing to become afflicted with "gray-area-itis." Why?

Another item that came to light was not only what was included in this "Looking Forward" section; it was what was not included.

We are approaching the ninth anniversary of 9-11. With so many lives lost on that terrible day, one would think that a simple acknowledgement would have transpired here. An education on what took place...a moment of silence scheduled...or even a simple reference in an elementary newsletter. Unfortunately, that would not be the case.

What's wrong with this picture? Is it so hard for a rule to be followed for all involved? America was founded on uniting those of a different background under a common ideology and a common goal=> That being freedom and equal treatment.

The system was not set up for the "special people" to abide by an enlightened rule of order while the rest of us adjust to a common man's law.

"We will never forget..."? If anything, we have forgotten all too soon.
