Milton To Address Speeding

One reason Milton residents decided to become a city, although it was down on the list, was to hire more police to control rampant speeding. Now that the city has been established for a couple of years, speeding is moving toward the top of issues to be addressed; the city has scheduled an entire meeting dedicated to the topic on Thursday.

The meeting was prompted by complaints by residents over motorists speeding through neighborhoods on popular roads and cut-throughs.

Public Safety Director Chris Lagerbloom said the format and the agenda are pretty open so citizens can bring up whatever traffic enforcement issues they want. He said he plans to bring data to illustrate what works and what doesn’t.“We are hoping for some dialogue so that people understand the challenges and possibilities,” Lagerbloom said. “It’s a double-edged sword. I’ve also got people who when you send an officer out there, you get an e-mail asking if you’ve raised enough money yet.”

City staff also will explain changing speed limits on some Milton streets and roads. The meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 13000 Deerfield Road.

Lagerbloom...someone just please tell him not to say anything else to the press.

We deserve so much better in a Public Safety Director.

Why should we care if someone was breaking the law and was given a ticket...lesson learned -> "Don't Break Law, Don't Get Ticket"

Sounds pretty damn simple to me.

You are right Travis. It's not about looking pretty, it's supposed to be about getting the job done and he hasn't done that.

I think Chris Lagerbloom has done a pretty darn good job so far working with the resources that the city has.

Since it is so "damn simple", maybe Travis can leave his high level management job and take over. We could all sleep better at night?

I dont know that I would say that he is any "prettier" than Chris though?

Is Chris now the scapegoat?

You obviously missed what I was saying when I said it sounded simple...

I was referring to people complaining about getting caught doing something illegal, not to whether or not the job of Public Safety Director was simple...

We don't need our Public Safety Director making comments that would lead one to believe that he feels pressured "not" to give out traffic citations just because people complain about a ticket that "they" received because "they" were in violation.

If you get a citation for whatever reason and you are in the wrong, then you have no reason whatsoever to complain...and "that" sounds pretty damn simple to me.

You must be a real "simple" guy?

Honestly, I tend to agree with Travis above in that those who violate our laws have no right to complain when said laws are enforced.

As a retraction of one of my earlier statements, I must apologize for my comments regarding Chris Lagerbloom.

In the past year he has had to assume both the role of Public Safety Director and Acting City Manager...I'm sure that this huge increase in responsibility was not an easy burden.

Also, in watching a local reporter tonight, not Jason Wright, I do realize that it is very easy to be taken out of context when making statements. I'm now apt to assume that many times the reporter (once again, not Jason Wright)is likely to make something an issue where none exists.

Who is this Trevor guy anyway? Why does he demand so much attention to his opinions?

"Trevor", or Travis Allen as re is affectionately refered to, is a citizen who likes to show up to everything, has helped out a lot in the past with the round-up, and loves to say negative things all the time. He likes to complain and is not shy about gaining such a reputation.

He is not a happy or satisfied person, which stems from some experiences that he had while he was about 3.

I have an opinion and I'm not afraid to share it...so now I'm not happy or satisfied?

Can things not improve? Are you satisfied with everything? Do you now want anything to get better?

At least I put my name on my posts.

My reputation? of what? wanting things to be better? Yeh, you sould like a real winner yourself.

Just so you know Travis, I do a lot, in fact more than anyone else. I make sure everyone knows it also, just read the press.

My husband drives around Milton more than all the police combined, sometimes he dosent wear pants. We used to have a dog that rode around with him.

So dont ever say I dont do anything but complain.

"DOSENT" this error is common in your posts. Julie knows how to spell.

What happend to Travis when he was 3?

Tim Enloe knows. I thimk something about his father was drunk and his mother snuck off with a bearded guy in a cobra. Seems his family has been trying to re-live the fantasy?

So much courage behind a computer screen.
