MILTON, Ga., Sept. 2, 2011 - Milton City Manager Chris Lagerbloom today announced veteran community development professional Kathleen Field will serve as Milton's Director of Community Development.

Field, who comes to Milton from McDonough, will start with the city Wednesday, Sept. 7. She will replace interim Director Tom Wilson, who has served since Lynn Tully's departure in August.

"Kathy Field is a trusted and proven professional, and a big win for Milton," said Lagerbloom. "She has the tools and background to hit the ground running and address our issues head-on."Her years of varied and valuable experience will surely take this vital department to new heights," he added.

Field began her career in community development in Massachusetts in 1978 and came to Atlanta in 2001. She served for 10 years in Roswell's Community Development Department, seven of those as director.

Field said she's excited to work with Milton's citizens and policymakers and welcomes the new opportunities afforded by the city's unique history, landscape and mix of homes and businesses.

"I'm looking forward to using my professional experience to preserve and enhance the very special quality of life that Milton offers," said the new community development director.

Field holds a bachelor's in Political Science from Trinity Washington University and received her master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She is a member of the American Planning Association and the Board of Directors for the Georgia Planning Agency, a graduate of the 2002 Class of Leadership North Fulton, and serves on the Advisory Committee for the Drake House and as chair of Senior Services North Fulton.

Another one?
Revolving door in such a young town.
Why is that?

Because the otherone moved to her hometown to be with her family and where her husband got a job? wow that is a sign of a bad city!

And Tom Wilson? The first guy, why did he leave Carnac?
Went to cmh2hill because???
And the one after him went to Roswell for what reason? Alice something can't remember her name, then Tom came back to fill in for this new person, why doesn't Tom just stay?

What happened to our city attorney too, Mark Scott? Rumors say he was fired? Mutual quit? Why is that?

You may be confused with the parks director, Bonnaci, she
was not the community development director. She left to be with family is the story. So the door is revolving. How many city managers did we just go thru since the first guy quit, and as Lagerbloom kept filling in so much as interim manager he finally learned the job or learned the politics and has remained.

Someone who knows said...

Tom Wilson was always with CH2hill and stayed with them. The other lady left for another position because Julie Bailey just wore her out. Tom came back on a temp basis til this new person came on, as he is retired now. City attourney, Mark Scott was let go from his firm but the city still has the same firm even today.Parks director did leave to raise her family, cant blame her or the city for that? Community Development person went back home to live and work in her hometown with family and where her husband has better job oportunities. First city manager left because of a mistake that staff made. Second one was and excellent manager but Julie, Alan, and Tina drove him crazy. Everyone here enjoyes working for Chris from a staff level and it seems the elected body does too?

A city employee with the facts.

Better than working where you do, sounds like a dreadful place.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Some people are just not happy!

Does the mayor and council work for Chris?

Anonymous said...

No, he works for them.

Is 7:38AM a city employee with the facts or someone just blowing smoke?

Revolving door is right on the mark. Once the corruption is known, many choose not to be associated with this city. This involves people starting with the mayor, city manager and so on and so on. This is fact.

8:16, sure wish someone had "evidence" of this corruption you mention. Many share your same belief yet no one is willing to take the risk to speak up, are they? Why?

maybe they dont want to loose there jobs

Could be they don't want to lose their jobs

Where did Linda go? Why did she leave, ran her mouth too much to outsiders and they got rid of her for leaking secrets out to the public.
Keep quiet= job security
