3rd Annual Milton Mayor's Run Oct. 8.

Celebrate after with a free concert at Scottsdale Farms

MILTON, Ga., Sept. 27, 2011 - Calling all Milton residents who like to hoof it or shake it for a good cause: The 3rd Annual Milton Mayor's Run will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Kohl's on Ga. 9, with a concert benefitting the Milton Fire Department's Muscular Dystrophy Association fundraising held that night at Scottsdale Farms Garden Center.

The 5K (3.1 mile) race, which begins at 7:30 a.m., will circle Deerfield Parkway beginning and ending in Kohl's parking lot on the Deerfield entrance side (click here for directions). It is a flat, fast course that is perfect for runners looking to chalk up a good time. There will also be a 1K fun run for younger participants and novices.

Cost for participation is $20 if received before Oct. 3 and $25 after. That fee includes a quality, moisture-wicking T-shirt and plenty of food and fluids after the race.

The concert, featuring Atlanta blues rockers "LooSe ShoEs Band" - who else? - will kick off at 6 p.m. at Scottsdale Farms' seasonal pumpkin patch. It is free, but donations will be accepted on behalf of the Milton Fire Department's "Fill the Boot" Drive for the MDA.
