Milton Parks Dept. awarded for second year.

'Concerts in the Park' chosen for state 'Visibility and Marketing' prize

MILTON, Ga., Sept. 19, 2011 - For the second year in a row, Milton's Parks and Recreation Department has been recognized for its efforts in promoting the city's special events.

Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator Tom Gilliam received the "2011 Visibility & Marketing Award" for a single-event publication from the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association at the group's August conference in Macon. The governing body of state recreation and parks departments chose to award Milton's "Concerts in the Park: Boogie Down at Birmingham" posters created and printed in-house by Communications Manager Jason Wright.

Last year, Milton was also honored for the "Remember to Remember" 2010 Memorial Day Ceremony campaign, which included posters, pamphlets and advertisements.

Wright was given the award at the Sept. 7 City Council meeting.

"The City of Milton is incredibly lucky to have someone with Jason's creativity and skill set to produce [our] publications and marketing pieces, because many cities and counties have to contract this work out," said Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood at the meeting. "It speaks volumes that Jason's work has been recognized two years in a row at the state level."

Maybe they can give Wright a personality award too.

What does that even mean? Are you implying he has a good personality, a bad one, or not much of one at all?
