Detective Kevin Barry named Officer of the Year.
MILTON-
In a ceremony during the Sept. 7 City Council meeting, the City of Milton Police Department named Detective Kevin Barry Officer of the Year.
“Detective Barry was chosen as Officer of the Year not for a single instance or case, but for his total work ethic and abilities, his dedication and willingness to go the extra mile to see cases through,” said Police Chief Deborah Harrell.
As one of Milton’s four detectives, Barry spends his time trying to bring often difficult cases to a close. It’s hard, mentally demanding work, and requires incredible focus and persistence in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.
Despite that pressure, Barry is known in the department for being patient, positive and pleasant to be around, even when he’s working extremely long hours or coming in to the station in the middle of the night to arrest wanted suspects tied to his cases, said Harrell. It’s because of this demeanor he was voted Officer of the Year by his peers.
“Being voted Officer of the Year by my fellow officers is one of the greatest honors of my career,” said Barry. “However, if it were not for their assistance, I would not have had the chance to receive this award. The combined efforts of the entire Detective Squad and Uniform Division made my accomplishments possible.”

GO KEV!
Bout time!
They all need more credit for the stuff they put up with!
Congrats!
Congratulation! Is this the first year Milton has had an officer of the year? I agree, they deserve more credit for what they do.
This is not the first year. Detective Steve Hewitt was Officer of the Year last year. That was the first year it was awarded. Unfortunately, there were no formal presentations for his award.
