Let the rubber stamping begin!! What perfect timing, too. The paybacks can begin tonight!

I agree. It's the culmination of a long thought out and sinister plan hatched with group of local power brokers in the back rooms of local watering holes. The people are finally in place needed to make these plans happen.

It's all a plan to sell out Milton. There will be big businesses on every corner. Our lifestyle will go down the drain. All this in order for a small group of people to make a huge amount of money. That is really the only reason they are doing all of this. I've seen them out meeting. Shifty eyed bunch.

And in the end, they will take this money, pool it together and buy needed materials to fuel their spaceships. They use these spaceships to take additional materials to their home planet so they can come back here and take over Milton!

Next person you see out in their shiny Lexus or Mercedes, or riding their fancy motorcycle. Just stop and think - that could be an alien that plans to come take us over! :)

The first two paragraphs of previous is dead on.

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

So, do some of you readers out there really believe that the current administration has some kind of devious money making plan, whereby they sell out what is good for the city, just to make money? Do you really believe that stuff. That it's an organized plan to harm Milton and make a profit?

Let me ask you all this. Why would those leaders want to live here and raise their families here if that were the case?

Wasn't it Large who did not know he lived in Milton? Just saying...

1:38, you should not have placed a comma after the word "city" in your post. Also, the following sentence (ending in "stuff") was a question and should have been punctuated with a question mark. More importantly, though, please stop replying to your own posts on this thread.

Finally, yes, we do believe that the last four councilmen to be elected were all bought and paid-for by the same group of developers. We think that because the financial disclosure statements prove it. We can only speculate as to the reasons. We suspect that there will at least be some special influence and access. Time will tell.

It's what happens when you believe everything you hear anti-developer because the story is a good one.

To the first 8:01 poster - regarding the 1:38 post on which you commented: proper grammatical conventions are not required in sending text messages and other forms of social media such as forum posts etc - Just so clear meaning is conveyed. According to forum and other social media etiquette, a writer that points out simple grammatical errors in order to appear superior is automatically thought to be pompous by the majority of the social media reading public. Just sayin :)

There is nothing to argue about. The "proof is in the pudding," as they say. The city council unanimously did exactly what the first poster suggested that they would do. Your sarcasm and doubt turned out to be completely misplaced as the city council payed back one of their largest financial contributors.

By approving the commercial rezoning on Hopewell Rd, the City Council flatly ignored The Planning Commission's recommendation to deny, the Community Development board's recommendation to deny, and they unapologetically ignored the Comprehensive Land Use Plan.

You can laugh at people who are upset that the City Council no longer represents the citizens of the community unless they can afford to buy their own councilman, but don't pretend that the accusations aren't true.

To put it bluntly, it is simply unfair that we can not enjoy an island of quiet and sanity in our community. The entire balance of metro Atlanta is paved-over and filled with high-density development of every sort. If folks enjoy that, then there are a world of options. Why can't there be an alternative for those who wish to have one?

Ignored CLUP and Ignored the Planning Commission recommendation? Paid back one of their largest contributors?

Hmmm - could the real story be that they considered (not ignored) both the Planning Commission recommendation and the CLUP? - both of which are to serve as guidelines if I'm not mistaken.

Then, they made a decision based on what they thought was in the best interest of Milton and it's citizens?

Does it always have to be something sinister? back room meetings, underhanded paybacks etc? Could it just be that they simply have a different point of view than you have on the way to acheive the goals of Milton? Why does it always have to be something evil as far as you are concerned? Maybe that is why your side was not re-elected?

Well, no, it could not be that. They have a set of guidelines that they are supposed to follow. Instead, they gave "the finger" to the citizens of the community and repaid their campaign donor.

Tim, if you are reading this, we would love to see an interview similar to the ones you posted leading up to the election. How could the city council possibly ignore every mechanism that has been put into place to prevent something like this from happening?

Most of you have no clue. There is no devious plan at work here. Get a life.

look, the first poster accurately predicted that the rubber stamping / paybacks would begin immediately and they did. You can say that there is nothing shady going on, but the facts speak for themselves. your sarcasm turned out to just be an embarrassment for yourself, because the prediction was accurate. stop the double-down. you were wrong.

What commercial zoning was passed by the council?

Anonymous said...

There was nothing passed. It was just a first reading. Stop making stuff up people and get a life.

There was nothing approved. They "approved" the first reading not the rezoning.

PS: Julie we all know that was your post.

Ok here are the questions I would like for you to ask:

1. What is his ties to the Hardeman store?

2. Did he ever see action while serving in the Navy?

3. Does he still keep in touch with Neal O'Brien?

4. Does Janie, his wife, like wine, and if so red or white?

5. Is he still in good enough shape to participate in "ride alongs" with Milton police officers?

6. Does he sometimes shake because he is nervous or lying?

7. Has he ever been caught in a compremizing situation with Karen Thurman?
