NARRATIVE VIA OFFICER/ID#: Borsey, J. (1115)=>

On 12-04-2011 at 0909 hrs. I was dispatched to XXX Glendover Dr. Milton GA 30004 in reference to a suspicious person. Upon arrival, I made contact with complaintant XXX XXX. Ms. XXX stated that when she let her dog out into the backyard area, the dog began barking and growling next to a wooden play set. As she approached she found her estranged husband XXX XXX sleeping in the play set. Mr. XXX XXX woke up and began crying stating that he had nowhere to go and was hungry. Ms. XXX stated that he shouldn't be here and advised that she was going to call the police. Ms. XXX entered the residence to place a call to 911 when she observed Mr. XXX walk towards the fence located at the rear of the property. After placing the call, Ms. XXX no longer visual contact with Mr. XXX. I checked the property and the residence and was unable to locate Mr. XXX. I requested Sgt. Kiel to the scene to see if using his patrol canine for a track was an option. While waiting for Sgt. Kiel to arrive, Ms. XXX told me that Mr. XXX had been threatening suicide recently and drinking heavily since losing his job three years prior.

Once Sgt. Kiel arrived we conducted a track (see supplemental). Once the track was completed, I went back to the residence to advise Ms. XXX that we were unable to located Mr. XXX. Immediately after leaving the residence, Ofc. Hayes advised that a subject matching Mr. XXX's description was walking southbound on Birmingham Hwy just south of Providence Rd. We made contact with the subject who in fact was XXX XXX. Mr. XXX was very cooperative and appeared visibly upset and broke down crying. While checking Mr.XXX's back pack for weapons, I observed a length of rope tied in a noose and several "goodbye" notes written in a journal to family members. I asked Mr. XXX why he wanted to kill himself and he stated "life is hard." Sgt. Kiel then requested an ambulance for transport. Mr. XXX agreed to voluntarily go to the hospital for evaluation. Once Rural Metro Ambulance was on scene, Mr. XXX entered the ambulance on his own free will and was transported without incident. Mr. XXX was checked GCIC/NCIC with no wants or warrants.

A few thoughts on this:

1) This is sad; plain and simple.

2) I appreciate the information that you give about our community (I truly do), but I am not sure how this helps make us more informed or better. Most, if not all, newspapers do not print anything about suicides as there is a well founded fear that people will attempt to duplicate what they see and receive equal attention.

3) I appreciate the police and their work to make this situation turn out for the best, but this is a private situation and not one that I think needs to be on a community blog.

My 2 cents.

I agree with the above poster 100 percent. What purpose could posting this possibly serve beyond providing your readers some lurid material so you can get more hits and generate revenue? If you're going to play journalist, you need to take responsibility for your actions.

All:

Any police report is public record. When readers ask Accessmilton.com to look into situations where our Milton Police Department is called, we do. Any information we find is posted to educate the public and to show the good work our Police Heroes are doing. You will note that we blocked out the names and address out of courtesy which we did not have to do.

You might remember last year when SWAT was called out to the Triple Crown Subdivision due to a drunk man threatening suicide and death to his family. Both the AJC and WSB reported the story including the names of the accused. Please check out the following=>

WSB=>

AJC=>

http://miltonga.blogspot.com/2010/11/wealthy-milton-businessman-arrested.html

Regarding 905am's logic, one would assume that both media outlets above were "providing... lurid material so (they) can get more hits and generate revenue" as you claim Accessmilton.com has done here. However, we only copied and pasted the police report-we did not conduct any "journalism" with exception of giving credit where credit is due.

Bottom line - Accessmilton.com harbors no gray area. We will post police reports as requested and omit the names of those accused / involved.

Remember, knowledge is power - the more the citizens know, the better.

We believe in our Heroes without you telling us to do so. We are American.

We believe in protecting individuals. families, and the community as a whole because it is the right thing to do. We are Milton.

AccessMilton.com, it appears once again... that you have a very small heart and only care about your own agenda.

The big bad wolf in sheep's clothing. Shame on you!

In your own words: "Remember, knowledge is power - the more the citizens know, the better."

How does this news make it better?

Better for who?
Better for you?

You state, "Regarding 905am's logic, one would assume that both media outlets above were "providing... lurid material so (they) can get more hits and generate revenue" as you claim Accessmilton.com has done here. However, we only copied and pasted the police report-we did not conduct any "journalism" with exception of giving credit where credit is due."

If this is a truthful statement, then explain why AccessMilton.com takes other journalists' news stories and City of Milton press releases and posts them "By AccessMilton.com"

You do not tell the truth.

I think all that Tim was trying to acknowledge was that the officers saved his life......nothing more nothing less.

I guess if JZB or Tart posted it everything would be fine......oh, wait, then they would be crediting the police for doing a good job, lord knows they wouldn't want that.

The tradedy missed in all of your comments is the human element that many of us are really hurting, scared, and unsure of the future in our own Country. A brother of ours obviously couldn't take it anymore to the point of contemplation of ending it all. That is tragic. Remember this next year as we go to the polls to correct the wrong in this country.
Time for them all to go! there are too many of us in dispair, and when you can't provide the basics for your family, I can see how this fellow lost his hope.

Tim you did nothing wrong. If it's so wrong to point out heroes than how come heroes of all types are honored everyday in all areas of life. Is it wrong to say thank you, you are a true hero. No one is making you think they are, it's a suggestion. Tim I guess you have incredible mind control.

Peace Out!

Our Police are heroes every day. there is absolutely no question about that. What disturbs me greatly with your "play on heroism" post Access Milton, is you print the name of the street, which could easily trace to a particular subdivision, which could pain to any number of families going thru a divorce. And yet, you do not print crimes across the news. Only some of the news. Why is this so important that you had to print this story. These are sad and difficult times for MANY Milton residents in a rough place right now. Wrap your head around that fact and keep this kind of news out of the headlines on Access Milton. And by all means, take a basic college course on ethics and Journalism. Perhaps learn to write your own stories, not post sensationalist, angry rants all the time. This particular one is tremendously sad, ay way you look it it. So why don;t you remove it and save some family undue grief. Is this how Access Milton defines responsible reporting and taking care of community?
