An 19-year-old driver who crashed his pickup truck last week, killing a Milton High senior, has been charged with vehicular homicide, DUI and reckless driving.

Andrew London (photo right) turned himself in early Tuesday at the Alpharetta jail and was scheduled to be arraigned today.

The early-morning, May 12 wreck on New Providence Road near Dorris Road killed Adam Stephens, 18, and seriously injured London’s 16-year-old brother, who remains hospitalized. The 16-year-old is expected to recover fully.

Police say Andrew London lost control of the 1972 Chevy pickup as the roadway curved, and the truck slammed into a telephone pole before flipping. Police say London was driving about 80 miles per hour, and that they found beer cans in the truck.

“It happened on a straightaway that goes into a pretty good turn,” Milton police Capt. Shawn McCarty said. “The vehicle kept going straight and didn’t go into the turn.”

he should be responsible with his actions. This should served an example to everyone thinking that their minor age will get away from being charged and jailed.

The person the article is about is 18, legally an adult, but still under the drinking age. He faced the consequences of his actions by turning himself in. He didn't hide when another innocent life was taken away by his actions. What happened will haunt him for the rest of his days.

This is sad for everyone. It's easy to judge as adults but many of us did some really stupid things when we were young. Most of us just got lucky and didn't kill anyone. If only we could pass along our experience and caution in a good way to those his age.

I consider myself well educated, earn a good salary to support my family and I'm a good citizen. But I have often said I am glad I survived my teenage years. Back then we drank and drove all over Atlanta. Almost 30 years ago! Police would take the beer and tell us to go home.

God take care of this boy and all the families suffering now.

Andrew loved Adam. Adam was his best friend. They were all drinking and all had fake id's. So its everyone's fault. I miss Adam a lot. He's was a good kid and yeah it sucks that he's Gone but be Thankfull Adam and david are still alive. Andrew and Davids parents pray for them every day. That's why they got out safe. I'm not saying that's why Adam didn't make it. They were saved by an angel. He did learn his lesson. And he took responsibility for his bad judgement. But let me say, its not his parents fault for letting this happen. His father is a pastor at his church. And if he knew they drank and drove frequently, Then he would do something about it. You can blame THE ANDRETTI RACE TRACK for letting them drink. Place the blame on them for not scanning id cards like they should.
