PLEASE HELP FIND GOOD HOME FOR MY DOG BEFORE EUTHANIZED!!!

All - We received the following email from Steve & Abbe Laboda
earlier today. If you can help these Milton Neighbors find a new home for Jackson, they would appreciate it!

- Tim Enloe / Magnolia Media.

PLEASE HELP!!!!After helping to rescue and place dozens of animals......I am now in need of your help in finding a home for my beautiful dog!!!Please see the attached photos of Jackson!!!He is a beautiful black lab mix, about 3 years old. He was rescued and we took him home at about 6 mo. of age. He loves to be with you, play ball, give you kisses when you wake up in the morning, chase squirles, he leans on you when petted and scratched, and loved his neck and belly rubbed. He is a good protector and a bit skiddish and loyal. He needs lots of love and a routine. He needs a loving home without children. He has bitten due to children scaring him, so a home with children is not suitable. A fenced yard is necessary. He is in the beginning stages of training with a k-9 trainer. The rest of the training will be provided free of charge if in the north Fulton area. The officer will come to your home and train you together. Please help me find a loving home for my dog Jackson!!!. We only have until Tuesday, May 19th to find him a home before he is euthanized. Please pass this on to any responsble dog lover you know!!I can be reached at 678-867-7870 or at 678-491-1015.

Please help us,

Prayfully, Abbe Laboda

Please make this your last dog. You clearly don't have the capacity to own one and this dog is facing death due to your helplessness.

Please make the above your last post. You clearly don't have the understanding and compassion it takes to bring a pet into your house.

Compassion for those irresponsible enough to jeapordize their pet's life? Do you feel your anger is misdirected at all?

That is a terrible comment from the first poster. If you read the request you will see that these people rescued this dog and were trying to give him a good home. They cant help that there is an issue with the dog and children.

Yes, but several aspects of the story don't add up:

1. This dog was "rescued" at 6 mos. That seems mighty early to "rescue" a dog.
2. He bites. I know there are differing opinions as to what causes this, but I would submit that owner behavior has something to do with it.
3. Finally, the most glaring issue: why is this dog due to be euthanized in such a short time frame? This is the most critical piece of information yet it's buried at the end of the note and without explanation. Is this something that Animal Control has mandated? Are the Labodas planning on dropping the dog off at a kill shelter should they not find someone to take the dog off their hands? Is there a third explanation I'm not seeing?

I have all the respect in the world for responsible people that assist in the rescue and fostering of animals. I, however, DON'T feel that simply fostering dogs in your home earns you the right to be irresponsible. Looking at this situation from an objective viewpoint, I think most would argue that points 2 and 3 above could point to a less-than-ideal situation for this dog.

"Mighty early to rescue a dog"? Do you have any idea how many puppies are in shelters and rescue organizations? Some come in days old.

Unfortunately, this is not a unique story. It happens with puppies and pets of all ages & types more than we'd like to believe.

Perhaps the 'professor' should impound his points 1,2,3 and euthanize his attitude.

Ok, I concede. These people are the best!

Where is JZB when you need her?

Why is it always the dog's fault for biting and bad behavior? People should commit to the time in training animals before they rescue or purchase them. Otherwise as in this situation the dog is on death row again. All dogs can be rehabilitated and owners trained.

All, it is reported that Jon McPhail has addopted this dog.

Thanks Jon!

That is great news. Thank you Mr. McPhail, you must be a wonderful person.

What if you were to tie him up in the yard of a vacant home, and leave him a cup of water. Maybe someone would come along and rescue him, and later you might get to know that person's brother.
I know it might sound far-FETCHED, but hey, stranger things have happened in the past.
