Roswell Hires Former Milton Administrator Aaron Bovos

by Bob Pepalis / http://www.northfulton.com/

Aaron Bovos found his way back to a government position in North Fulton, accepting the deputy city administrator's post for Roswell. In his new position, he will oversee Roswell's Administration Department and sit on the city's management team.

Bovos most recently worked as budget director for Gwinnett County. That position followed his departure from Milton, where he served as city manager until August 2007. Prior to that, he also helped with the startup of the city of Sandy Springs. Before taking a position with Sandy Springs, he worked for Alpharetta for six years as its Finance director, where his efforts led to a AAA bond rating for the city.

City Administrator Kay Love welcomed Bovos to her team."I am excited about Aaron joining the City of Roswell. He is a great addition to the management team and I look forward to working with him," she said. Bovos said he is excited to work with Love, the mayor, council and city staff.."It's an honor to serve Roswell in this capacity and a great way to start the new year," he said.

Bovos resigned from his position in Milton following a filing error that has cost the city $850,000 in insurance premium tax revenue. Bovos is a certified government finance manager and certified treasury professional. He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in finance from Frederick Taylor University.

Excellent, Mr. Bovos in a great addition to the staff of any city.

Anyone who knows anything about Milton's politics knows that it wasn't his fault that the city missed out on any money.

Knowledgable individuals know that Carol Wolfe was reminded several times to fill out the paperword, but she failed to do so.

...and since he wouldn't play by the sheriff's rules, he was let go...

Great for Roswell, and a loss for Milton.

Yep loss for Milton_ Gain for Roswell. That's pretty typical though.
Perhaps Mr. Bovos could find his way back to Milton in the future.

The loss of Aaron is when I first began to realize that Milton may not turn out to be what I was told it would be when we all voted. Fine, call me naive.

I cannot help but post a comment after reading that some of you out there in Milton-land understand that losing Aaron Bovos was a huge mistake and should have been a light bulb moment for all of us.

That folks, was one, seems like, could have been...one of the most political moves ever and sadly the City loses much more than $850,000 in many ways than you might consider at first. By the way, we heard that those funds could likely return to Milton. Isn't that what someone said at City Hall and it was reported in the news?

In order for a City to attract the best for a vibrant town and and awesome place to live, you must have the very best and indeed Aaron was one of those. His energy, his honor and sense of responsibility, his enthusiasm and open door policy at City Hall, his availability to us the Public to discuss ideas from the "field" so to speak as Pacers (or volunteers), topped off with his lifelong passion for riding horses! If you knew Aaron then you know what I'm talking about.

Roswell does indeed win here and we lose. And Forsyth County wins and we lose. And Sandy Springs. And and and... All places we are losing our City Hall employees who really are some of the best around.

Do you think it is because CH2M Hill is a third party administrator for Milton? Why are some leaving the City of Milton to work for CH2M Hill only to continue to work on projects at the City of Milton and other cities? Isn't this a conflict of interest in some way? As a former HR professional, I know this should be a red flag to the Personnel Director- the low morale and high turnover rate - with, and since, Mr. Bovos' departure. Oh yeah, that person works for Ch2M Hill.

And when the City Council did that thing where he supposedly quit?? That was too much. I would love to know what exactly went on behind closed doors for over two weeks at THAT exit interview.

I know its business as usual to most everyone, but something just doesn't sit right. We have lost way to many high level employees at City Hall. Start counting. That's what I'm saying.

Sorry if I'm sounding sour. I'm mad as heck about that particular episode of "As Milton Turns".

And, after last night's CIty Council meeting it hit me.

It's still turning...

Very much not anonymously yours,

Yeah. He graduated summa cum laud from Frederick Taylor University. Ever hear of FTU? A mail order diploma, bought and paid for, and for that he earns $120K.

Even if it is a "mail order" diploma who cares. That is not any different than paying to send your kid off to school.

Don't confuse mail order (read: diploma mill) with accredited universities either online or brick and mortar. FTU is not accredited and is far removed from paying to send your kid off to school.

A mail order diploma from, much less, an unaccredited university is definitely not the same thing as physically attending an accredited university. It is NOT the SAME as paying to send yourself or a loved one(kid)off to college. You pay some money to take a few on-line courses. True, there are some reputable on-line colleges and universities but Fredrick Doulgas is not one of them. Its totally bogus, and is a slap in the face to any and all professionals who studied and worked hard to receive their diplomas legitimately. There are many of us out here who worked hard to receive our BA/BS,MBA,etc. while working full-time. Driving to institutions to attend courses of study in a classroom setting, nights, weekends, etc. We incurred debt from student loans and we do not earn half the salary that Mr. Bovos is receiving.

In my career I have never even been asked about my diploma and degree. Most industries rely heavily on your experience. Thats what Mr. Bovos brought was good experience. Get over it Karen Thurman, you big loser!
