Former Jefferson City Resident To Be Inducted Into the Georgia Golf Hall Of Fame.

Spencer Sappington, a former resident of Jefferson City, will be a 2008 inductee into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame.A graduate of Lincoln University, he captained the Blue Tiger golf team and was an NCAA Division II All-American in 1965.He has won 13 Georgia State Golf Association (GSGA) Championships, including a record three straight Georgia Senior Championships in 2003, 2004 and 2005, and a fourth win in 2007. Mr. Sappington became the first four-time champion in tournament history. In three of those Championships, he was leading or tied for the lead after every round. He was awarded the Georgia Senior Player of the Year in 2003, 2004, and 2005, and received the GSGA Tommy Barnes Award in 2004 as Outstanding Player of the Year.Sappington has qualified for 19 USGA events in his career. Golf Digest ranked him in the top 10 among senior amateurs in 2001 and 2003 and Golfweek ranked him in the top 10 in 2002 and 2003.Currently living in Milton, Ga., Sappington is a member of Polo Golf and Country Club in Cumming, Ga., and Meadow Lake Acres Country Club, and The Society of Seniors.Sappington will be honored in a ceremony Jan. 12, 2008, in Augusta, Ga.

Will the fabulous four give him a passport to attend such a ceremony?

Just noticed this event is scheduled for 01-12-2008...hopefully there will not be a fabulous four by that time.

He should make plans to attend.

Wish the cap in this picture could be removed, maybe the top of the head would be visible and could help in identification as to whether it is a card carrying democrat on council.
