REMINDER! Council Seat Forums Tonight.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MILTON CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES FORUM

Be an informed citizen. Mark your calendar for Oct. 9th!

The League of Women Voters of Atlanta-Fulton County will sponsor a Candidates Forum involving six Milton candidates for three city council seats. The event will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2007, 7:30 - 9:30pm, at the Birmingham United Methodist Church, 15770 Birmingham Hwy. Following the Forum, citizens and candidates will have an opportunity to meet face-to-face in the Church courtyard.

Three of the six Milton City Council seats will be contested on the November 6th municipal election. Since council members serve in an "at large" capacity, it is important to note that the election is open to all City of Milton Voters, who will vote for their choice in all three district races.

Candidates are:

District 2: Julie Zahner Bailey, Incumbent; Roger Santi, Challenger
District 4: Neal O'Brien, Incumbent; Burt Hewitt, Challenger
District 6: Rick Mohrig, Incumbent; Alan Tart, Challenger

This impartial and non-partisan event is sponsored and structured by the League. It is not a debate. A moderator will ask questions that will be submitted by the League. It is seen as an opportunity for candidates to express themselves on a variety of public interests and for citizens to become informed voters.

In addition to the League of Women Voters, co-sponsors of the event include Birmingham United Methodist Church, Wachovia Bank, Milton Herald, My Sister's Gifts, and Scottsdale Farms.

Santi - Shih Tzu -Assertive and engaging. Proud. Alert and spunky. loyal. Friendly. Likes his comforts. Can be willful, but will respond to training. Can be snappish if surprised or peeved.

Julie - German Shepherd - Direct and fearless, eager and alert. Bold, cheerful. Known for his tremendous loyalty and courage. Calmly confident, but not hostile. Serious. Most intelligent of the canine group.

Neal - pit bull - ruthless fighter-- what it lacks in brains it makes up for in brawn - (poor decision making skills on) attacking people

Hewitt - Great Dane -dignified and kind. A steady dog, responsible and dependable. Brave and loyal.

Mohrig - Labrador- Not aggressive with people or other animals. eager to please dominant dog(s)

Tart - Doberman- intense and energetic with tremendous strength and stamina. Versatile and highly intelligent. Determined, fearless and assertive -- certainly not to be underestimated. A very people-oriented breed.

It appears the ref was to the first comment. It's a dogfight to win the seats -- duh!

Some corporate executives have a hard time seeing the big picture. Since it is alleged that Julie has never been one, this does not apply to her.

Aren't we fortunate to have so many current and former corporate executives. Per capita we are probably ranked numner one in the world.

WOW, just read all those comments, good thing none of you are running for Council, Yikes! What's scary is that some of these people on this blog are our neighbors! Talk about vicious.

Don't take life so seriously, you could be dead tomorrow or diagnosed with cancer or suffer the loss of a loved one. Put it all in perspective people. No matter who gets elected or re-elected life will go on.

You can never tell who is posting here and running for council at the same time. Some may be or should be running for the city limits or the county line.

Recovering from the big C, hope I don't experience the other two anytime soon, but you are right life will go on.
