The Milton City Council will consider revamping its cell tower ordinance Wednesday, placing more restrictions on telecommunications companies wishing to add to the skyline.
The revisions come as the city nears the end of a 60-day moratorium on cell tower applications. In late April, the city granted T-Mobile South permission to build a cellphone tower, but with restrictions, and turned down the company's request to build two other towers.
The revised ordinance adds restrictions requiring the applicant to demonstrate a need for the new tower through a study signed by a Georgia licensed engineer. It also calls for detailed line-of-sight studies and requires applicants to pay a standard fee and be liable for up to $7,500 in engineering or consulting costs incurred by the city.
The meeting is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall.

Would have been a good idea to have had this prior to the current requests, instead of after the fact. Now our city is going to incur costs to fight a law suit, because we didn't have an ordinance that delt with this. How many other ordinances should be looked at NOW so that the tax payers dont keep fitting the bill around here for poor governing and lack of initiative? Instead of spending all their energies destroying one another during campaigns, how about focusing on what our city really needs and take care of business!!

This is a modification to the existing ordinance - not a new one. Specifically, this is to address the issues learned from the T-Mobile experience.
If only you omniscient folks had offered some assistance in the last go-round, we wouldn't be in this situation. Come on - share your great knowledge and wisdom with your neighbors.
BTW - I think it is called "footing the bill" not "fitting the bill".
You are blaming the lack of assistance from the people in this community for this situation?? Really? You are the elected officials, not us. You were elected to be on top of this, I guess we need to do your job now?
Nice response from a Council Person or Mayor...blame the people. How about you take a long weekend with Council on one of those tax payer get aways and go through all the ordinances instead of sitting around and holding hands around a camp fire with a psychologist trying to get you all to get along. Try that on for size. The nerve to blame the people who elected you all. Obviously this city has made some huge mistakes in electing council members. Do over please.
There was a telecomm ordinance that required this on the council agenda the first year of incorporation and it was yanked from the agenda in favor of "more pressing issues."

Approximately 100 Milton citizens participated in this debate at the city council meeting. Only 2 were there to support T-Mobile. Were you one of them?

Of course, but for some time, Milton's crooked little figurehead has rewarded his crony/city lawyer, among many others. Always for selfish reasons, his laziness may have been rewarded by a little "help" since the same bubba is the forsyth county guy, certainly able to give a bidding hint on the fire station.
Your tax money or common sense policies take a back seat to the corrupted needs of hizzoner.
Bet on it.
Tons of fun at parties, though and a heck of a friend if you may be able to help him socially or financially anytime down the road.
Let's see, jealous of the mayor for staying in office.....Ummmm, negative comments about city attorney who fired Mark Scott.....Ummmm, slithering on the bottom with Mark Scott.....Ummm, jealous that the mayor has a legitimate job and not faking a disability.....Ummmm, dosent realize a public job is based on strict bidding rules and county employees cannot affect who projects are awarded to....Ummmm???
