Frustrated Milton Resident Asks To Be Kicked Out Of City

By DOUG NURSE / www.ajc.com / Published on: 08/12/08

A Milton man, tired of the City Council's refusal to let him connect to sewer that surrounds his property has asked to be kicked out of the city.

At a work session Monday, the City Council seemed reluctant. Dennis Potts, who is assembling a 10-acre parcel partly in Milton and partly in Alpharetta, asked the City Council to de-annex him so the entire property could be in Alpharetta.

Mayor Joe Lockwood argued Potts' situation was unique. Tart and others questioned whether the city should allow property owners to de-annex just because they don't like city policies. And some, such as Council member Karen Thurman, expressed reservations about letting go of commercial property when the city's tax digest is so lopsided toward residential taxpayers

Two years from now, take a vote on how many want to be de-annexed from this great place called Milton.

If a resident does not want to be a part of the city then let them go and pay taxes in the city they want to be a part of.
Are you going to treat Milton like a concentration camp now? Questioning whether people who do not like the policies can leave or not. ..... watch it.... that is out of line and you begin to sound like a dictator.

I'm sick about hearing about Dennis Potts. Let 'em go, let 'em go.

so if 100 + people want to leave Milton because they can't get sewer, then all of their properties should be annexed into Alpharetta? Is that what you are saying? People can leave, but they can't take their property with them. What kind of reasoning is this? Potts is a victim of unfortunate circumstance.

I made the second comment:
The point is if the man wants to de - annex let him go. Of course you take the property with you! That is the point of de annexing is it not?

Sewer should not be forced upon those who do not want it.
Those who do want it should be able to access it.

"Tart and others questioned whether the city should allow property owners to de-annex just because they don't like city policies."

We would be living under a dictatorship.

I think the word should be secede. Save yo Confederate Money Boys.....we'z outa ere

Traitor not dictator.

So hypothetically what does a person do then who doesn't agree with the laws of our country? Should they ask to be kicked out of the US and have their property return to England's control? WOW! They'd be considered a traitor.

Where do I sign up to de-annex? I for one am ready. The first poster is right, the list will be long 24 months from now. I think the property will need to be contigous with the municipality to which you want to de-annex or seced. With that said it could take a while.

Maybe we should just create another city called "Birmingham Alliance" It would consist of White Columns, Crooked Creek and everything on Deerfield. Seems to me that is what makes up the majority of the NIMBYs.

Biggest NIMBY in Milton is lady across street from potential new school site.

To the NIMBY poster who continues to bash "the lady across the street". Get over it already! WWJD?

What would "Julie" Do? She would organize tell an outright lie to her ignorant neighbors and citizens to get them in a tizzy!

Hopefully (for her) they would run off in a blind (and uninformed) rage to fight whatever she stirred up.

Anonymous said...

Obviously you don't know who Jesus is.

Anonymous said...

I can't vouch for the above person as to whether or not they know Jesus, although I hope they do, but they certainly know Julie Bailey!

Same blogger, different story, same boring comments about JZB that do nothing but make you feel better. Yawn. No one cares.

Anonymous said...

I know who Jesus was... he was a carpenter (builder). He would want sewer!

I guess with that, JZB could be likened to his nemesis Satan and her fight against sewer.

If you really didn't care, you wouldn't read or post. YAWN!

If Jesus wanted sewer there WOULD be sewer.

Should have been one of his miracles instead of feeding the masses from loaves of bread. What was He thinking??

Anonymous said...

To the blogger who "knows who Jesus is", The builders want sewer. You said it! Thanks for clarifying.

Anonymous said...

So are you saying the "builders" are bad? I will bet you might even live in a house that was built bya builder? Maybe even on a beautiful piece of land that was a farm or woods?

Hypocrit!

Anonymous said...

LOL. We are now arguing if Jesus would have wanted sewers! You have got to be kidding me. Too funny.

Anonymous said...

Very Funny! Could be a new Simpson's Episode. No one said builders are bad, looks liike the above comment said that Jesus is a builder since he was supposedly a carpenter, so being that the case, he would want sewer. If Jesus were a plumber he'd want sewer, that statement would more sense.

Let Pott's go for goodness sakes!! Take your land with you and get on out of here, pleaase so we can end this goofy blog, as entertaining as it is.

But Tart, otherwize known as "Alan Zahner Bailey", dosen't want to be traitor?

Anonymous said...

It's spelled hypocrite you dumbas

Why didn't Potts put his property on the market before the area became Milton, or asked for sewer extension from Alpharetta when he had the chance? Lack of planning on his part does not constitute that Milton create and change rules and establish laws and policies just for him. They have to look at the big picture and do what is best for the future o the entire City and do what the people have elected them all to do. Eventually they will all come to a compromise. They are not going to appease everyone that is for sure no matter what the outcome.

Do you think Potts little acreage is being used for Milton zoning to change? As soon as we change the zoning it'll open up all kinds of lawsuits.

dumbas ?????

The nice thing about money and too much time is anyone who buys their "dream farm" in the country, but fails to ask about the giant empty lot across the street, is you can start a self-serving group to fix your problem.
Lisa is nice, but only an idiot would chance that one.
"Menopause in Milton....Where no one can hear you scream" (Except Jezebel, who lives for the screams)

As for Pots, is this a concentration camp?

Is Tart one of Lockwuds "3 Divas" ?

Anonymous said...

You've got nerve....talking like that about "the lady across the street".....however, you are exactly on point.

Anonymous said...

Suprisingly, Tart has not been a supporter of Lockwood so far? Maybe if he comes up for air from JZB's rear end he will start thinking on his own?

you go to church on sunday to repent for your sins. you think you're going to heaven but the devil you believe in and worship by your words against others is smiling down on you cause he got you real good.

dew yew rite or tipe much?

Anonymous said...

To the folks talking about "builders want sewer"...you are taking a big assumption and lumping a large group together. Some builders are actually really good people. We are in that business, and we don't want sewer.

Anonymous said...

"Some" Milton residents acually live in a house that they bought from a "builder" or "developer", and it is on property that was once natural. Look where AZB lives, it is on sewer?

Wasn't the school property owned by Wernick at the time? and the lots and roads for the homes were staked out already. He was going to build 70+ homes on it. Go check the sale records of the property. It wasn't some big empty lot sitting there for sale, everyone knew Wernick was intending to build homes on it, or was that just smoke and mirrors. The BOE didn't purchase Wernick's property until many months after the "lady" across the street purchased her property. Only someone employed by the BOE, Wernick or their privvy buddies would have known Wernick was going to sellout to the BOE. But now he's a prestigious individual at KingsRidge. Connect the dots it's easy.

Did the "lady" across the street write the above post?

Anonymous said...

No, JZB wrote it but the "lady across the street" is a big supporter of JZB's.

Anonymous said...

Well now, if that doesn't take the cake.

Anonymous said...

jealous, new-vo riche idiots.

I didn't know that, huh. Blogs are fun.
