This morning, I started thinking again about this idea and....
Look what I found:
For Immediate Release: June 1, 2006
(TRENTON) -- Each year, New Jersey designates June as the Month of the Horse. To celebrate the contributions made to the state by the official state animal, events are planned throughout the month, kicking off with an international level horse show, held at the Horse Park of New Jersey.
P.S.
I'm sure that July is the month of cleaning up horse patties on New Jersey Highways...and using it to fertilize their gardens...
I guess that answers why they call it the Garden State...

We, the New Jersey transplants here in Milton resent that....or should we say represent that...
Not being from the NE, I've never understood why New Jersey gets a bad rap. I've only been there a couple of times, but it was absolutely beautiful. So, maybe the airport area was industrial just like every other major airport. So?
I have a friend who always says he is from New York when his family actually lives in New Jersey. I've never understood that. It's like me saying I'm from...
New York when I'm really from Arkansas. Oh, forgive me, I couldn't resist.
I think I'd like the dairy farms in New Jersey. Isn't that where Jersey cows come from? Where is my "cow expert" from the blog a coupe of weeks ago?? Mooo....

What you see most often are the big black and white milk cows named Holsteins.
Jersey's are the smallest of the milk cows, and their milk has the highest butter content.They along with the Guersney come from the channel British/French isles respectively. Both of these cows have beautiful eyes.
There's also the Brown Swiss from [you guessed it] and the Ayrshire from Scotland.

I doubt you will ever see one around these parts, BUT avoid all Bulls from the Milk Cow Breeds. They are not "sweet creatures" they are mean for some reason, whereas the milk cows are more docile [probably because they are around humans so much being fed,touch, herded, twice a day.] Everyday
Iff'in ya want to see what I believe to be a herd of "replacement heifers" [remember the definition of heifers?] Milk Cow teens waiting to become milk cows. Go to the Indian mound just south of Helen. On the right there is usually a slew of them in the field along the river.
Maybe, but I avoid "myspace."
Have dem illegal chickens started laying yet?

I can't remember anything anymore. I am so old I can remember when "party" was a noun.
Holsteins are from"De Netherlands" and produce about 6.5 gallons of milk a day, that's what you see most often and they are enormous black and white cows.
Next subject for discussion...BFD or EFD ??
I'm born and raised here, but I've never identified myself with the Equestrian community...maybe we should have a month to celebrate all the outlandish ethics complaints that are filed!
