That Vision Thing: An open letter from Joe Longoria to Milton citizens

Vision

Vision can be defined as the ability to picture one's future success. Milton's vision includes the desire to remain true to its rural property and lifestyle - an important part of our city's unique, inviting strength, which must be preserved. This has been staunchly supported by all of the candidates for Milton City Council. However, Milton's defined footprint is also composed of vibrant residential property as well as largely undeveloped parklands and vacant commercial properties. To ensure that our city continues to thrive, our vision for the future must include those elements that will make Milton strong and inviting.

Strategy

To achieve this vision requires an active strategy for bridging the present to the future. It must be an on-going process that is fluid and dynamic, not static. We must continually review and measure it against our city's changing needs to ensure that it is on-target and guiding relevant decisions.

Leadership Requirements

Effective strategy requires strong leadership. Our city's vision can only be achieved with city leaders who listen to all-not just to some-of its citizens. Milton requires leaders who are skilled at identifying problems, and who have the capability of initiating the type of change that bridges present reality to our vision for the future. Failure to respond to and adapt to our city's needs leads to a loss of connection to our community. Elected officials who cannot adapt, who are one-sided and inflexible, risk failure at the expense of our city.

In this campaign, my opponent has portrayed herself as one who is aligned with one portion of our community and against another, further dividing our rural and residential citizens at the expense of creating unity and positive action for Milton as a whole. She has not identified a clear strategy for bridging diverse lifestyles or managing and funding appropriate growth into the future. What she has done is alienate part of the very citizenry she is obligated to serve and in doing so has failed to offer an effective strategy for creating a unified, fiscally thriving Milton. With all due respect, this is not leadership.

My vision and strategy for Milton

My vision for Milton is to maintain and enhance our wonderful rural environment within a unified city where people of diverse perspectives live cohesively and without rancor. I want to see our city respected by other cities and by the State of Georgia. My vision of the future includes wonderful parks, equestrian trails and pedestrian walkways as part of a prosperous city with adequate revenue sources to support the services our citizens want and deserve.

As a member of the City Council I will apply my background, skills and total commitment to help build that bridge to the future.
As always, if you would like to contact me directly, please feel free to contact me directly at: joe4milton@gmail.com or (770) 634-0080.

I will look forward to working with you in the years to come to better serve our City of Milton.

Respectfully,

Joe Longoria
Candidate for Milton City Council 2009
District 5

Remember to vote on November 3rd!

Until recently, your opponent was all about Milton's equestrian-centric vision; now, she is promoting our culturally diverse lifestyle. Got wise just in time, or more so, attempting to reach out to all those Milton citizens she's forgotten about. It's not all about the equestrians! Thanks, Joe, for realizing there is more to the citizenry of Milton!Looking forward to the implementation of your vision for Milton.

To 3:16pm anon poster: you and your friends will come to see that having Longoria on the city council will do more to advance your objectives than the militant clowns that have divided our city and made us the laughing stock of the state.

Diversity brings crime. Check the stats. This place is starting to look like Mexico, Mumbai and Dekalb County

You Zahnerites are absolute idiots, or disengenuous...maybe just both.

I just got an autodial from Julie, of all people.
She is "all in", as they say in Vegas. Invariably, she hides in the shadows like the wimpy Wizard of Oz, operating via dupes like Leona Cole, Paula Moore, pathetic Carol and nutty Nikky. This time, she is so desperate, the One herself has come out for her cast of candidates.
Her call says Milton will be the same if we vote her way...and it WILL!!!
In other words, no improvement, no parks, no quality of life increases, no tax relief, nothing.
Just a desperate longing for something that only exists in some minds every fall during elections. Anyone who really wants to protect, improve, save Milton needs to run away from the Z-ites as fast as they can.

Let's really do something innovative with our horse community, get parks that are the envy of the region, keep one acre,(regardless of who connects to EXISTING sewer pipes to protect the environment). Julie and her gang haven't done anything innovative in their lives. Look at Tina: uses co-hosts for events she hasn't gotten permission from, signs in places without permission, when corrected she extorts concessions or fires from City committees. She tried to veto the parks authority, didn't start disability awareness as claimed, didn't do much of anything. When an apparently reasonable opponent surfaces, she tries to bribe him to drop out...so she can save her sacred seat & title. Oh, she isn't a professor, she is an "instructor". Doesn't sound so cool.
We should be much more concerned about a man's brother going public saying he is unfit for a position of public trust, than some silly trumped up claim of an obscure company scandal.

Get real, go vote. The only truth is this IS an important election. In Dist 5, if Tina does win, we will have to pay $100k for a special election, undoubtedly, unless the City sues Tina due to her misconduct and makes her pay...which she can't.

Julie and her gang haven't run a business, held a job and most seem to have trouble selecting spellcheck when they blog. Do you really want moonbats running a $20million business, with your money and your property value at stake?

I don't.
