Well, I'm gone. Today was my last day but I couldn't go in. I'd had enough of just sitting waiting for the clock to move. I want to thank the citizens of Milton for participating in all of the events over the past three years and especially the volunteers who made it happen.
I came to Milton three years ago to work with Aaron Bovos. He told me if I came he would have me work with the volunteers and that is exactly what I wanted. Trite as it may sound, I love people and I found the citizens of Milton to be similar to my hometown of 5,000 - warm and open and eager to get involved.
The position I held of Special Projects Coordinator was perfect for me and I have such fond memories of all who I met and worked with. Please continue to support the events, they are an integral part of what makes Milton different.
I guess in hindsight, at least from the Council's point of view, I overvalued myself. It's such a sad state of affairs in today's world that you become a line on a financial sheet. I'm sure the City will use my pay for something more valued and logical.
All those countless hours spent on holidays and rain or shine weather were all for naught as far as valuing my services but it wasn't for them, it was for the citizens.
One of my mentors, former City Manager, Billy Beckett, believed tht the community activities and events are such an important component of developing and maintaining the sense of community and in fact, the more events the better even in hard times.
Those who make the decisions for the City will tell you that the events will continue, in what manner remains to be seen. Apparently and assumedly it will be given to someone who "does" that type of thing and the hands on connection I have developed over the years with love for my job and the citizens is not necessary.
As I looked around my office I knew that part of me is there and I will take the memories with me. I guess that's a fair trade. Please be good to one another and think good thoughts.
I love all of you.

Linda:
I know you did a great job for Milton. Even a bike mishap could not hold you back.. Enjoy it and I looking forward to hearing good things. There are times that people forget where they come from and how they got there.
Yes, I agree. When you are on top its hard to look down or back but its a common occurrence that what goes around comes around. Sometimes you just can't put a price on things but are blindsided. The day will come sooner than later that they/we will miss her. We all answer to someone.
You will certainly be missed by the citizens of Milton. Even though the council and staff seemed to not have valued you, we did (and do). You're a vibrant person and your enthusiasm is infectious and you made everything you took part of fun! May God bless you and direct you to where He has planned for your next venture. You continue to think good thoughts as well. We love you.
None of you people that read this blog, or anyone in Milton for that matter, can complain one bit about Linda leaving. i have already committed $2k per year, $4k if Ms. Bailey gets voted out, to pay for Linda to stay. But as of now no one else has come forward to chip in, so dont complain unless you put your money where your mouth is.
Even if I say I'll donate towards paying part of Lindas salary to keep her at city hall it wouldn't matter because THEY JUST DONT GET IT! Don't you think that city hall should take better care of the employees and promote a happy healthy workplace? For all. With top notch management. Now Jason Wright is our city"s director of communications. Hmmmm, who is willing to stick their neck out and write some investigative journalism. If you only knew.
Folks, not sure if you've noticed, but my neck has been out their forever.
Thus, if an article needs to be written, hit me up with it.
I am all ears.

I will join in for $1,000.00 Bob.
I love Miss Linda and will miss her. I used to take vegetables to her and take her riding in my truck.
I've been looking all over for this!
Thanks.
I just hate that no one else in this community wants to support Linda and keep her at city hall?
It wasn't about the money people.
A small job in the city was offered to her so the grapevine tells me. No even close to the money she was making.
Maybe she was overpaid while at CH2.
Not even close to being over paid. People like Linda are hard to find and they never complain about the task they have at hand. She will not have a problem finding another job and even make more than she was making with CH2. I hate to see it when people think others are over paid. Dont judge that horse till your wear a few of it shoes.
Too bad no one stuck their necks out to see what's up in California and Tennessee.
The Alabama-Texas game is in California, and the Smoky Mountain national park is in Tenn. so what is your point?
Foul plays by a councilmember in Calif and Tennessee. Penalty points awarded but not on the field, in the courts.
