They hate it because they see the negative consequences for the kids as they are (already) pressured to teach to the test...thereby narrowing curriculum. They know they could get the pay, but at what cost to morale of the adults and students in the building?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21862313.post-90280810285648181002011-04-21T05:42:38.004-07:002011-04-21T05:42:38.004-07:00Attractive, young, smart, and uses important-sound...Attractive, young, smart, and uses important-sounding jargon that is beyond educator jargon...looks good on the surface but scratch beneath and you will find that he and the board are headed down a path that will lead to more intense standardized testing program that they will eventually try to tie to teacher merit pay. You may think THAT sounds good on the surface, but beware the number two pencil ready zombie children who are already bored by the narrow test-driven curriculum. Watch for some of their teachers to go to any lengths to obtain good scores. Your children will be the pawns in the game of "achievement."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21862313.post-58787470324293551722011-04-20T20:45:08.248-07:002011-04-20T20:45:08.248-07:00An utter failure and professional money-waster... ...An utter failure and professional money-waster... perfect for Fulton County.

A point that was briefly mentioned but not explored by the fantastic journalists at the AJC: "One of the first questions dealt with a regimen of 52 tests that Avossa helped develop that some parents and teachers have criticized as a waste of time and money."

You can easily find plenty of background information if you care to... $2 Million to develop the tests and $300 Thousand per year to administer? Great.
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/03/06/2114887/performance-pay-to-bring-far-more.htmlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
