Rumors & Ethics...Ethics & Rumors...

All:

We have received a few emails asking us to confirm various gossip regarding certain citizens being appointed to fill the three currently vacant ethics board seats.

While we too have heard whispers, we encourage each of you to consider such banter as rumor and nothing more!

In Milton's brief history, so many have assumed one thing when in reality the truth turned out to be something totally different.

Needless to say, it is important that we learn from our past for a brighter future.

Thus, until we receive official confirmation from the various council members or city staff as to who these individuals will be, we are holding off on any public comment or announcement.

Thank you,

    Tim:

Could you provide the names of the ethics committee members appointed by each council member (and indicate which council members have not yet made appointments.) I have not found this info in any of the Milton Herald articles and it would make it easier to follow.

    Thanks.

Lisa Cauley on the Ethics Board - oh my God!! Lisa goes on the premise that money buys anything even at City Hall. She has the Mayor and City Manager on a string with her "do what I want or else" and they do it to keep her from pulling her backing. Money talks - ethics walks. Lisa backed Tina in more ways than many know and she'll do what it takes to get her off the hook. You read it here!

  5. I too have had a hard time finding a list of the current ethics board members.

I do know that Clint Johnson is Bill Lusk appointee and a gentleman with the last name Stephens is Joe Longoria's appointee. I am unsure of the names of the remaining two but I know one is a woman and the other a man.

As far as those who do not currently have someone appointed, they are Mayor Joe Lockwood, Burt Hewitt, and Julie Zahner Bailey.

It should be stressed that all had citizens appointed but they resigned.

It is also of note that Mayor Lockwood appointed a person a few weeks ago that was ineligible to serve and was rejected.
It is unlikely that the rumors now are true, after the previous problem, since it would look too much like he was engaging in cronyism to get Tina off the hook.

If he picked someone like Cauley, it would make a lot of tongues wag about what he "owed" Tina...
Even Joe wouldn't make that kind of mistake.

Lisa would have to recuse herself from the Tina hearing.

If Lisa has any level of honesty, she will not participate in the Tina issue. If she does, then what does that say about our City??

Not sure who posted the 2nd to last comment, but to the above poster, you don't think there would be a conflict of interest if Lisa voted on this issue?

I am not sure of all of the facts on the Tina case, so I don't know who is right or wrong. But, based on the amount of signs in front of her house that were for Tina, I assume that she gave her money and she most certainly helped her with her campaign.

So you don't see a problem with that?

Not sure who wrote the above comment about the comment two comments above, but did you read them?

The poster clearly stated that "If Lisa has any level of honesty, she will not participate in the Tina issue."

So are you people saying if you vote in Milton, you can't be on the Board of Ethics? If you vote, you are either pro one candidate over another. So what. Signs in somebody's yard doesnt make a relationship. It shows a person supports someone for election.Change the rules that only people who don't live here can sit on the board of ethics if you don't want anyone to know anybody at all. If your opinion is she shouldn't hear the upcoming case then you will be in agreement that neither should the entire sitting board because they know her from working with her as a council member for several years. How long has Mr.Johnson known Daversa, since 2006 when he was appointed? - R.J.

What are you accusing her of being dishonest about? If she is appointed and hears this upcoming case? You are alleging they have a personal relationship based on what, 3 yard signs during the campaign? I agree with the previous poster. You all assume everything and know absolutely nothing. I guess anyone who supported anyone for election in this city, in any way or manner is now officially not a candidate to sit on the board. Let's go find people who don't vote to represent us.

There are 7 appointment seats on the Board, not just one.

Waiting on Julie Bailey and Burt Hewitt to find an appointee, what is taking so long?? Maybe they could contact Thurman and Lusk for some suggestions, then maybe that would appease the people on this blog. It appears they want only people who don't know Tina at all or dislike Tina on the board. Who is bias???

I doubt Julie has that long list anymore.

I do know Lisa relationship with Tina (first hand) and she needs to recuse herself.

Now you can all say that I don't have a clue what I am talking about; and sorry to tell you but I do.

While there are 7 votes and she is only one, the right thing should be done by her and she needs to step back from this one.

And so do I. Ditto to the above poster. You think three yard signs is all there is??? The citizes of Milton deserve all they get from the mayor and council for a lot of reasons but mainly because they fantasize that things are on the up and up When will you wake up and see that this city is doomed for destruction from the inside out. It redefines the word implosion.

There aren't all those interested in Milton politics anymore. You have to take those interested.

Chicken posters. Easy to attack people you don't know or envy behind a computer screen. Post your name and let's have a go at you.
If YOU had an ounce of any "honesty" or character you'd sign your name behind your attacks and claims of "being in the know".

What's the matter, afraid of the same treatment you are giving to others?
